Answer: I have asked myself that many times. The Yankees have had Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Berra, Mantle, Ford, Rizzuto, and later Mattingly, Rivera, and now Jeter. Who is the best player in Mets history? Tom Seaver, who played only 11 1/2 years out of 20 in a Mets uniform. The Yankees are THE team in New York. They've been around 60 years before the Mets existed, and had already won 19 World Series before the Mets first took the field in 1962. Mets fans like to think that Wright and Reyes are THE stars in New York, but it will always be Jeter's town. I am sick of hearing how young and exciting the Mets are. They are just as old, if not older than the Yankees at many positions and don't have as many great young players coming up like the Yankees do. Yanks rule!!
